Lombard Central Presbyterian Soup Kitchen

Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to check out this informational site about the Lombard Soup Kitchen.

In a city that needs so much help, it can be difficult to figure out what you can do to make a difference.

Start with your own neighborhood!

Just a short 15 minute walk from Drexel University main campus on 42nd and Powelton Avenue, there is a soup kitchen that provides delicious home-cooked meals, and a loving environment to over 100 homeless men and women every week. These patrons are our neighbors, and this soup kitchen would not be able to operate properly without the help of dedicated volunteers.

The kitchen runs on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 AM- noon. Volunteers are needed for various simple tasks including: helping to prepare and serve lunch, assembling gift bags in the back storage room for those who could not attend the meal, and helping with the distribution of coats, blankets, and other materials.

There are countless other ways to assist Lombard besides direct service on Thursday and Friday! There are event planning and fundraising opportunities for volunteers, as we plan on hosting several events this year to help out the site.

Please spread the word to your friends, and come out to help at the Lombard Soup Kitchen! We are determined to get more volunteers than ever this term! Forward  any questions to [email protected]

Thank you.
