Lombard Central Presbyterian Soup Kitchen

Greetings, volunteers! =]
I'm so happy to be working with the Lombard Soup Kitchen for my 2nd year. I feel like there is a lot of room to expand on our services, and really build on all of the hard work we did last year. I have set much higher standards for myself this year, and I am confident that the immensely large incoming class of Freshmen will have a lot to contribute to the kitchen. Together, I think we'll be able to accomplish wonderful things =]

This Fall term, the focus is on recruitment. Please assist me with that! Share your Lombard stories with your friends. Get together a group of students interested in serving. Brainstorm ideas for fundraisers and projects we can work on later on in the year. It's early enough to begin planning for such things!

As always, if you have ideas for anything related to the kitchen, please don't hesitate to share them with me. I look forward to a year even btter

HAPPY SUMMER!
For many of you, the 2009-2010 school year is OVER. I hope you are all enjoying your time away from Drexel, and soaking up as much sun as possible!

Please remember your service at Lombard this year.

We are working on putting together a ton of exciting new opportunities for ways to help the kitchen during the 2010-2011 school year and I would absolutely love it if every single one of the 300 volunteers from this year would help be a part of this expansion.

Together, we can truly make a difference in the lives of the men and women that eat there each week.

As always, I love to hear from you guys. Please share your experiences and thoughts with me and I will  certainly respond :-)

See you in the Fall!

BREAKING NEWS!

Thanks to the fabulous suggestion from Brittany C., Lombard now has a
FAN PAGE.

Check it out:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lombard-Central-Presbyterian-Soup-Kitchen/113130158707545?ref=ts

Hopefully it'll gain as many members as the group. Then I'll decide which page is more efficient for our purposes.

So far, 21 people have expressed interest in starting a recognized student organization on campus for Lombard. This is very exciting! I'll be hosting an informal meeting with all of those people very soon to really get the ball rolling with this.

Congratulations to new volunteers, Jennifer T., and Maddy C.

Hello volunteers!

This website has been created for YOU! We really want to try to keep interested volunteers involved with Lombard, despite hectic schedules and limited free time!

Please use it! Stay updated with this site. Ask questions. Brainstorm ideas for fundraisers. Meet and talk with other students who have served. Reflect. Remember Lombard even if you are unable to continue your service. The more people we can get involved with the site, the bigger a difference we can make!

Right now, the biggest thing going on with Lombard is the development of a recognized student organization! This will provide us with more resources to make a bigger difference at the kitchen. If you have ANY interest in joining, please click the survey under the "links" section of this website.

That's all for now!
